Reflection is the way we learn about ourselves, our experiences, and our impact on the world.
Kelly Garvey
Meet Kelly Garvey, Founder of Our Mirrored Minds
Throughout my career, I've worked with children, adolescents, adults, families, clinicians, educators, and organizations. Across every setting, from therapy offices to classrooms to corporate trainings, I have noticed the same truth:
Having the information doesn't create lasting change, awareness of our own responses to information in relationships to others, life experiences, and societies impact our ability to intentionally grow in a way that is aligned with our values. Our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships often reflect patterns we've learned over a lifetime. When we pause to examine those patterns with curiosity, we create the opportunity to respond differently.
That belief became the foundation of Our Mirrored Minds.
My work integrates mindfulness, emotional intelligence, neuroscience, and evidence-based clinical practices to help individuals and organizations become more intentional, resilient, and connected. Whether I'm providing individual therapy, leading a workshop, teaching graduate students, or consulting with a leadership team, my goal is always the same:
To help people understand themselves more deeply so they can live with greater awareness and intention. With greater awareness, come greater choice, and greater choice creates lasting change.
I strive to create spaces where people feel safe to be authentic and grow. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in compassion. Our Mirrored Minds allows us to reflect, on our relationship, our experiences, our beliefs and values, and the stories we tell ourselves. When we become aware, this creates a transformation and allows us to soar fully in ourselves!
Meet Our Counselors
Fátima Paredes, MA, LAC (fae/they/she)
I went to Ohio University for undergraduate studies. I graduated with a B.S. in Communications, Media Arts & Studies, Screenwriting & Producing and a minor in History. I went to Montclair State University for graduate studies. I graduated with an MA in Counseling, Addictions Concentration. I'm especially interested in helping people with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationships, self-esteem, stress, grief, family concerns, environmental concerns, and emotional regulation. I feel especially passionate about supporting Black, Brown, Indigenous, Transgender, LGBTQIA+, Muslim, Spiritual, Disabled/Neurodivergent, Autistic, ADHD, Latine (i.e., Caribbean, Central Amerika, South Amerika), Refugee, and Working-Class communities and populations.
I describe my approach to therapy as collaborative and eclectic, while I maintain a grounding theoretical orientation (i.e., Liberation Psychology). The person I support is the expert of their life experiences, and my task as the counselor is to support people as they navigate various life challenges. I use CBT, DBT-informed skills, strengths-based therapy, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing.
My own therapy that I received as a teenager opened my eyes to the role therapy plays in the process of healing. Additionally, I witness and experience current economic, political, social, and environmental stressors that could be somewhat alleviated with professional support. I became a counselor to offer support to people who struggle with various stressors. I believe therapy can help people and communities rebuild and reclaim their past, present, and future.
On a personal note, I enjoy playing video games (i.e., Divinity series, Final Fantasy series, Bannerlord), hiking (i.e., state parks), writing, reading (i.e., nonfiction, history), playing tabletop games (i.e., chess, TTRPGs, board games, card games) and cooking outside of work hours. I have 1,714.7 hours of playtime in Hearts of Iron IV, mostly because of the Fallout Old World Blues mod. Praying helps me feel grounded.
